South Florida: Spring Migrants and Specialties
April 16-23, 2020
6 Participants   -   7 nights

The end of April is a fantastic time to visit south Florida. Neotropical migrants are begining their journey north and the specialty birds of Florida are on their breeding grounds. Brilliantly colored birds seem to be everywhere and we will seek out as many was we can. Terns and gulls, waders and rails, doves and pigeons, hawks and kites, parrots and anis, the variety is astounding and the sheer numbers of birds can be too.

This tour will take us from the coast to the interior pinewoods and prairies of southern Florida and into the sea of grass and swamps of the Everglades National Park. Depending on assessment and recovery plans a day trip into the Florida Keys would also be on this itinerary before our day trip to Fort Jefferson and the Dry Tortugas National Park.

This trip begins and ends in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

We will visit the areas of Loxahatchee NWR, Miami, Kendall, The Everglades, Corkscrew Swamp, Marco Island, Tigertail Beach, J.N. "Ding" Darling NWR, the Florida Keys, Fort Zachary Taylor and Dry Tortugas NP.
