Maine Coastal Tour- and the Northwoods

Rocky Shorelines. Deep forests. Beaches and bogs. Lighthouses. Lobster. Puffins and seabirds. These are the things people think of when dreaming about Maine. These are the things we will explore and experience on this seven day trip to one of the most scenic parts of the country.  

This trip begins in Portland, Maine on June 7, 2019. We will have a dinner meeting and check into our hotel to prepare for this spectacular adventure. 

We will visit Scarborough Marsh, Kennebunk Plains, Brownfield Bog, Pondicherry NWR, White Mountains National Forest in New Hampshire, Moose Bog, West Quoddy Head State Park, Bar Harbor, a pelagic out to Petit Manin and more.

Birds we expect to see on this adventure include:

  • Atlantic Puffin 

  • Nelson's Sparrow

  • Saltmarsh Sparrow

  • Bicknell's Thrush 

  • Common Eider

  • Black Guillemot

  • Arctic Tern

  • Roseate Tern

  • Razorbill

  • Common Murre

  • Black-Backed Woodpecker

  • Boreal Chickadee

  • Gray Jay

  • Spruce Grouse

  • Ruffed Grouse

  • as well as flycatchers, warblers, petrels, shearwaters and more!

This trip also holds the possibility of seeing whales, seals and more wildlife as well as spectacular scenery, the freshest seafood and lobster around and unique experiences. 

This trip will start on June 7. Please make arrangements to be in Portland, Maine no later than 5PM. We will have a dinner together after everyone is picked up from the airport. 

All accommodations will have a continental breakfast, lunch stops will be along our route (some of these may be grab and go or fast food) and dinners will be at restaurants near our lodging. 

Water and snacks are provided in the van if needed.

Some evenings may have an after dinner portion of the trip for those interested. Listening to the sounds of the evening in marshes and possible owl walks are optional for all members of the group. 

Accommodations are for double occupancy. A single supplement cost is added for anyone without a roommate or those that prefer a single room. 

This trip will consist of multiple hotel changes to different parts of the state. 

All ground transportation, guide services, accommodations, entrance fees, tolls, snacks and water, ferry service and admission, ferry breakfast and lunch, continental breakfast at hotel, a custom designed trip T-shirt, specialty field notes checklist and group photo are included. 

Each participant is responsible for their own meals, adult beverages, gratuities and airfare to and from Portland.

Reservations Begin October 31 at a first come, first served basis.

A deposit of 400.00 is due before April 15, 2020.

Final payment is due May 15, 2020.  

Bird with us birding tours and nature trips are recommended for adults only.
